Nuenen

December 5, 1883 - November 24, 1885.

Vincent's time in Nuenen not only showcased his technical skills as an artist but also revealed his profound empathy for humankind. Through his art, van Gogh sought to capture the essence of the village and its inhabitants, immortalizing their stories and struggles on canvas. It was here, while living in a rented room at the Catholic verger Johannes Schafrat's house, that he painted The Potato Eaters.
